To Those Affected by Hurricanes

If your home has been destroyed or heavily damaged, get in touch with your insurance company IMMEDIATELY! It may take awhile, so be patient, but also be persistent.

If you will be out of your home and/or work for a long time, contact your mortgage company, credit card companies, car finance company, and any other creditors. Explain what has happened, and ask for your payments to be deferred.

Also, feel free to ask us about how to deal with your mortgage company and creditors. Deferred  payments can cause major problems if not handled correctly. Over 3 years after Katrina, we still have clients with huge credit issues due to their mortgage companies mishandling their loans after the storm! Avoid this possibility by making sure it’s done right. We’ll be glad to offer our advice as a free courtesy to you at this difficult time.

If necessary, start looking for a new home NOW! After Katrina, houses were in short supply, and many buyers were taken advantage of. Act quickly, and have a good buyer agent represent you.
